Food intolerances: how to diagnose them

Food intolerances represent an extremely underestimated topic, yet dramatically on the increase: more and more people, men and women, adults and children, suffer from intolerance, most often without even knowing it. Food intolerance is a consequence of partly undigested food macromolecules leaking through an intestinal mucosa that has become too permeable; once they reach the lymphatic system and the bloodstream they trigger off a response from the immune system, which in turn causes a general inflammatory state. At that point, an inflammation starting from a food intolerance ends up affecting the entire organism and can lead to symptoms and modifications of any organ or tissue.

Prodeco Pharma’s commitment has made it possible to detect the presence of food intolerances through a simple, accurate and irrefutable analysis based on the identification and quantification of food-specific IgG4immunoglobulins, through the so-called ELISA method.

The ELISA method is a technique of immunological analysis, widely employed in diagnostics and research laboratories worldwide, to ascertain beyond any doubt the presence in the blood of antibodies directed against specific molecules.

In the case of the TEST·IMUNE® developed by Prodeco Pharma, the diagnostic potential of the ELISA method is exploited in order to determine and quantify the presence of IgG4 antibodies related to specific food stuffs: the analysis, conducted on a few blood drops, evaluates the presence of food intolerance towards 45 foodstuffs, suitably selected because they appear to be involved in 98% of food intolerance cases, as shown by recent researches.
